He tried his best to keep them happy until finally, his father asked him, "What is that thing out there in the yard?" It was not easy to explain. Gardiner M. Weir is a biologist who was born in Northern Ireland and grew up on the family farm in County Antrim. Due to his profession as a biologist he has lived in twelve different countries for extended periods of time, in Europe, Africa and South America. He is now a naturalized American citizen and currently lives in the U.S.
