Publisher's Synopsis

When Billy Evans, a local teen, takes a job at the new Triple J's Supermarket, he can't imagine the unseen forces conspiring against him. While his work seems harmless at first, he is soon subjected to the shady dealings and dark underbelly of his seemingly innocuous employer.

As Billy seeks promotion within the company, his depravity grows. He soon discovers that he is not only complacent with the morally bankrupt corporate culture, but finds that he has become an advocate of it as well. In his effort to reach the apex of the corporate ladder, Billy is forced to offer a piece of himself at each rung, sacrificing his friends, family, and his own moral identity along the way, bit by bit, until there is nothing left to give. With each promotion, Billy grows increasingly disillusioned. As his star rises, his community declines and his relationships corrode. Billy's loved ones are left to wonder if he'll notice his fall before his downward spiral is complete. By the time he realizes he is simply a cog in the brutal machine, it may be too late.

Billy's story serves as a cautionary tale for those whose ideals are forged in a throwaway culture, and what happens when buying in means selling out.
