Publisher's Synopsis

This book is a critical edition of the ancient Greek historical text Hellenica, books V-VII, ascribed to the historian and philosopher Xenophon. The edition was prepared by the American classicist Charles Edwin Bennett in the early twentieth century, and includes a detailed commentary on the historical and literary features of the text. The Hellenica covers the period of Greek history from the end of the Peloponnesian War to the Battle of Mantinea in 362 BC, and is an important source for our understanding of this period.
