Publisher's Synopsis

Yvain, the Knight of the Lion is another Arthurian romance by Chrétien de Troyes. It was written in the late 12th century at the same time as Lancelot, the Knight of the Cart, and contains several references to that story.

It tells the tale of a knight, Yvain, who neglects his lady and is subsequently rejected by her. He then spends the rest of the poem performing galant deeds to win back her love. The poem would later go on to be hugely influential in subsequent Arthurian stories, and is considered one of Chrétien's best works.
