Bahadur Shah Zafar was the last king of the Mughal dynasty and an important poet of Avadh whose extraordinary fame is due to the revolution of 1857. He was taken into custody by the British as a government criminal, put on trial, and sent to Rangoon, where he passed away. The same tragic events of Bahadur Shah Zafar are depicted in this literary play.
