DAIWI, meaning Captain in Vietnamese, is about the life experiences of Chuck Pfeifer. He attended Dartmouth College and hoped to play football there, but he disobeyed rules and was expelled. Moving on to Fort Dix and Fort Benning, he played football and learned a bit more discipline. Lucky enough to be a talented athlete, he entered the United States Military Academy, where he played on the Army team that beat Roger Staubach's Navy in 1965. After graduation from West Point, he became Class Leader of the Ranger and Airborne Schools and earned the Top Ranger Award. His further training propelled him to the elite MACV/SOG Special Forces Group and into Vietman, where he was in charge of about 200 to 300 Nungs. Chuck often found himself in dangerous and forbidden Laos and Cambodia, planting mines, hunting lost teams, and killing the enemy. He served with distinction and courage and returned home with a few physical injuries and PTSD that still haunts him. He entered the advertising business with Young & Rubicam, became a model for Karl Lagerfeld, was the image for Winston Cigarettes, and other ad campaigns. Olliver Stone cast Chuck in both "Wall Street" movies, and he went on to appear in many others. His interviewing skills garnered him interviews with countless movie stars and military dignitaries, including General Westmoreland, General Petraeus, and John Lehman. His most memorable interview was of General Vo Nguyen Giap, leader of the North Vietnamese Army. He has appeared on various TV shows, including Geraldo Rivera, Oprah Winfrey and Current Affair. Chuck lives in New York City, but spends time at his Montana and South Dakota ranches, fishing, hunting, hiking, and just relaxing.
