Publisher's Synopsis
The Chichimecas have decided to back Tula in the fight against Chichen Itza, but the Toltec leadership is struggling under their king, Tecpancaltzin. Xóchitl is at odds with whether to side with her husband and his first queen to watch the war from the safety of their palace, or follow her only son into the fight. Meanwhile, Xóchitl's father, the Purépecha king, has been asked for his support, but the aging man refuses to choose between his estranged daughter in Tula, and his son who's married into the ruling family of Chichen Itza. Will Xóchitl be able to keep her family together as the war intensifies, or get distracted by old wounds?
